An Emmy and multiple Golden Quill Award winning composer and songwriter, Amanda Ford brings a unique blend of traditional American influences, combining Blues, Rock, Jazz, Country, and Pop. A leading composer of the true American pop song, her debut solo album, On Fire, showcases her talents as a singer/songwriter and pianist. Amanda has an exceptional ability to write and perform within multiple genres, all connected by her smooth and melodic stylistic thread. Amandas songs reveal a deceptive simplicity, underscored by legitimate musicianship.
Her musical influences began where she grew up, on a farm North of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She credits her ability to write in various styles to her family who listened to everything from Beethoven to Patsy Cline to James Taylor to Steve Miller and then some. Amandas lyrics expose an uncommon depth without pretense; and intimate honesty that is familiar to the listener. Her voice is reminiscent of the best of Joni Mitchell, Nora Jones, Sara McLaughlin, Annie Lennox, and Dianna Krall.
Regarding her new release, On Fire, Amanda said, it's my songs, that's where I can talk. I can write what I can't say so well. On Fire is definitely a turning point song for me. You know how you can just feel something's coming, like you're leaving something behind for something else."
On Fire , her premiere CD release is an honest and introspective look at Amanda's past, and that something else.
